The apostle Paul admonished his young disciple, Timothy, with words that apply to us all:

“And the things which thou hast heard of me among many witnesses,
the same commit thou to faithful men who shall be able
to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2.2).

The Sydney Institute for Biblical Studies (SIBS) exists to equip you for effective ministry. Whether God has called you to be a pastor, a missionary, a deacon, a church musician, or a Sunday School teacher . . . our goal is to guide you to attain competence in the Scriptures, confidence in service, and consistency in spiritual discipline. Uncompromising allegiance to the Bible. We make no apology for our belief in the authority of God’s inerrant Word. Every class is Bible-based – which means you’ll be taught unchanging truth, not popular opinion.

Godly lecturers who teach because it is their calling, not their job. Each of our lecturers carries top academic qualifications . . . and they possess a proven record of fruitful ministry.

Personal mentoring. We recognise that knowing about ministry is not the same as actually doing it. That is why we have coordinated a comprehensive mentoring programme within a network of churches. Expect accountability – in your spiritual walk and in your application of ministry skills.

Affordability. Thanks to the generosity of those associated with SIBS, we’re able to offer a quality education at a fraction of the actual costs.

No-one would dream of practicing medicine without proper training. Nor would anyone presume to make legal representation without specific qualifications. How much more must followers of Jesus Christ – upon whose lives is fastened eternal influence – possess well-refined beliefs and skills?
